The neonatal surgery procedures are still performed at Mogadishu Somali Turkey Recep Tayyıp ERDOĞAN Research and Training Hospital. In the last two months, a total of 24 neonatal surgeries were performed successfully in our hospital which is the only pediatric surgery center in Somalia.Among these 24 cases, very rare and difficult surgical operations has been treated by our clinician Op. Dr. Yeliz Yılmaz, anesthesia physicians and Our pediatricians.
Within this period the following surgeries have been performed.
- A sacrococcygeal tumor
- Eight anal atresia(Colostomy to seven babies, anoplasty applied to one)
- Five pyloric stenosis
- Four esophageal atresia
- One bladder extrophy
- A duodenal atresia
- A diaphragmatic hernia
- Two umbilical cord hernia
- A cloacal extrophia(patient with a very rare anomaly)
