A 59 years old female patient came to Mogadishu Somali Turkey Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN Research and Training hospital suffering abdominal pain, fever and vomiting. The patient was checked by Assoc. Prof. Ömer Topuz. As the results form the examination and the taken ultrasonography and CT scan it was found that, in the abdominal right lower quadrant behind the large intestine there was a deeply located giant abscess.
A 40 years old male patient with similiar complaints came and physicial examination, ultrasonography and CT scan was done. İt was detected a pus focus extending to the groin behind the abdominal cavity on the right psoas muscle.
After consultation with the general surgery department it was decided to remove the abscess with CT scan and/or ultrasound from both patients.Successful abse drainage was performed in both patients on 30.07.2018 in the presence of local anesthesia.
While explaining the healthy of the patients, after a successful operation specialist Dr. Aresh Soudmand and Assoc. Prof. Ömer Topuz; “when comparing removal of the abscess with closed method together with ultrasonography and CT scan has advantages over open surgery. After the treatment the patient can return to normality in a shorter time, the risk of developing a complication is lower, the lack of a surgical scar after treatment are among the advantages of the procedure” said the doctors.
Thus, for the first in Somalia it was successfully performed intraabdominal abscess drainage with ultasonography and closed method.
