Pregnancy class has been put into service in Mogadishu Somalia Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Training and Research hospital. The hospital manager Assoc.Prof.Dr.İsmayil YILMAZ has said about the pregnancy classs “ Somalia is one the highest maternal and infant mortality rate in the world,we have opened a pregnant school so that the prospective mothers can live without problems from the moment they become pregnant until the end of the pregnancy.I hope that the pregnant class we opened will be a good service to the Somali people, "he said. Our hospital’s health care services manager Hülya ÖZMEN has said ”21 pregnant women who work in our hospital will be trained in the first stage of the pregnant class which is opened in our hospital.Gynecology and Obstetrics Department residents and Pediatric department resident doctors will provide training for 4 weeks in order for the pregnant woman to actively participate in the birth, to have a healthy baby and to have a comfortable birth also to learn properties of newborn,to evaluation and care of newborn,vaccination and medicines applied to the newborn.Pregnant women who receive training for childbirth, with the uninterrupted professional support given during delivery, it is aimed to shorten the time of delivery, decrease cesarean rates, decrease the need for painkiller and other drugs, and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
