This department established in febraury 2018 and it’s residency program started 1st april 2018 upto now 4 Pulmonologists graduated.
Currently there are 3 Somali specialists ( one of them has no contract yet ) and 2 residents one of them is in Türkiye rotation for residency completion.
This department is the only place where produce the future Somali pulmonologists,we have the capacity of Pulmonology residency program.
Outpatient daily schedule
In our hospital we have 2 outpatient ( one is normal policlinic and the other is Tb ) . in our outpatient we have Pulmonary function test which is very important machine in respiratory diseases for diagnostic and monitoring various diseases like asthma,COPD and ILD.
6 days work from 07:30 am - 04:30 pm : Saturday till Thursday.
Friday is free.
but we work 24hours /7 days for emergency department as Pulmonology consultations.
Residents Education: in every Monday and Wednesday 11:00 am we have minimum 8 pulmonology lectures per month .
In every 4 months we take pulmonology residency exam and evaluate residents.
Internship training: till established this department we teach and train many internship doctors those come for mandatory rotations.
Research role
We do pulmonology researches and it is only place where many respiratory diseases research published with highly impact journals and contributed knowledge around the world.
Interventional Bronchoscopy unıt.
In Wednesday we have Interventional Bronchoscopy unıt where we do Fibreoptic Bronchoscopy :
FOB is a very important and advance machine we use to look airways and inside the lungs using a thin, flexible camera in oerder to diadnose and treat diseases.we do lavaj and biopsy for indicated patients those have various Pulmonary diseases.
In our Outpatient we provide services many patients like :

✓ Pleural effusion
✓ Lung cancer
✓ ILD
✓ Pulmonary embolism

✓ Chronic cough patients assessment
✓ Respiratory failure ( Type 1 and Type 2 )
✓ Sleep disorders like OSA
In Pulmonology consultations
We get and provide different department consultations from Pulmonology preoperative assessment and postoperative assessment for surgery departments and other consultations from other departments daily 24 hours / 7 days.
We work closely different department for MDT like all internal medicine branch departments like cardiology,neurology and infectious diseases we also closely work with our thoracic surgery department for many respiratory diseases.
We have also work together for diagnostic and therapeutic many respiratory our colleugues radiology department which is very important department for us.
In ICU for critical care medicine we work Anesthesia department for respiratory illness patients in ICU for diagnosing and therapeutic measures.
In our department we do different procedures for diagnosing and treat many respiratory diseases :
➢ Thoracentesis ( manual and USG guided thoracentesis )
➢ Chest tube insertion
➢ Spirometry
➢ Thoracic Ultrasound
➢ Fibreoptic bronchoscopy ( lavaj and biopsy )
➢ Pleuracan insertion
➢ Hemoptysis medical management
➢ Chest ct guided biopsy
➢ CPAP and BiPAP
In our inpatients
➢ We admit and provide tertiary health services the above mentioned diseases from outpatients and emergency department.
➢ We have rooms in servis 3 where inernal medicine team and department branches work.
➢ We do morning visit and afternoon visit for our ward patients.
➢ Pulmonology visit contain Pulmonolgist,Residents and Internship doctor.
➢ We do educational visit preround,round and post round for residency and internship training
